Surekha Nelavala

Rev. Dr. Surekha Nelavala A Pastor-Scholar, serving in DE-MD Synod ELCA building healthy communities of faith with intentional attention to multiculturalism and diversity. In her inquiry and practices of theology, hermeneutics and homilitics she uses intersectional, contextual and gender based socio-scientific analysis to re-interpret and re-imagine scriptures that emerged from religious-socio-cultural interlocking systems.

Dr. Nelavala also serves as the Faith Formation coordinator at New Hope Lutheran Church, Columbia, MD. In addition to this role as a pastor she is a Teaching Scholar as an adjunct faculty, an academic writer, a published author and a public speaker, and an international traveler of Indian descent living in the United States.
