Michael Jagessar
Michael Jagessar
Michael Jagessar, CWM’s Mission Secretary with responsibility for ‘Discipleship, Dialogue, the Caribbean Region and DARE/eDARE, is from Guyana where the natives kept Eldorado out of the reach of the Colonials by spinning and signifying excitingly deceptive stories. After ‘pirates plundered the Caribbean’ extracting most of the Region’s wealth and the IMF became a new form of piracy, he decided (in 1987) to follow the trail of the money/wealth which finally landed Michael in Britain (1999). His studies took him to Kingston, Geneva, and Utrecht, while his engagements drew him across the Caribbean and Britain in multiple roles. Michael’s religious heritages include Islam, Hinduism, and Christianity – Caribbean style: meaning hybrid and multiple religious impulses! While he lives in the UK, Michael ‘dwells’ the Caribbean and gets excited over cricket, authentic Caribbean spirit-filled punch (drink), good creolised Caribbean curry, and the ever-elusive Anancy/Anansi (patron saint of the Region). Among his writings (eclectic, interdisciplinary, wayward, and Caribbean at heart) you will find a collection here: https://caribleaper.co.
